Has it really been 6 weeks already?  My image for this week is actually that of a camera.  This is an old Kodak Vest Pocket camera that belonged to my grandfather.  I have no idea if this was used by him, or if he bought it as a collectors item.  I always wonder what this camera has seen.  When it was first sold, Kodak advertised it as a “Soldier’s Camera” during WWI.  I wonder if this camera was ever used to capture the memories of war?  Another cool thing about this camera was the “autographic” ability.  It came with a stylus and you could open a little window on the back of the camera and write directly onto the film.  My camera, unfortunately, is missing the stylus, but you can see where someone wrote on it.  it almost looks like it said “Mammoth,” or something similar.  Maybe someday I will be able to find some 127 film and try it out.  If you want to see the other ones that I took, you can check them out here.

I know I’m a little late on posting this, but I have been trying to get the mini session photos finished so I am just now getting around to editing my other shots.  I actually took this photo between sessions over at the Spanish Village.  It was pretty early in the morning, so I just loved the way the dew was still on the leaf.

Instead of taking some sort of artistic shot, or a picture of my kids, I wanted to show off the nice little river flowing down our street after the rain/hail storm.  In about 10 minutes, we went from a perfectly dry street to this!  At least I don’t have to water my lawn for awhile.

This week I decided to give myself a little challenge and shoot only with my lensbaby (like being home with 15 month old twins and having a husband out of town for work wasn’t enough of a challenge).

3-52

OK, so most people have heard of Project 365, where you take a photo each day and post it.  There is no way I can commit to such a huge task with everything else I have going on.  I have decided to do the much less daunting, Project 52, where I take a photo each week.  Photos of clients can’t count!  I will do my best to post the new photo each week, but in some cases, like tonight, there may be two photos in a post.  Hopefully I will stick with this!!  At the end of the year, I will put it all together into a nice coffee table book.

1/52  My little girl looking totally serious.  On New Year’s Day, we decided to spend the afternoon at the park with the kids and the dog.  The dog had a great time playing while I hung out with the kiddos and my camera.  The park was way too crowded so the kiddos weren’t able to play on the playground, but we still had fun.  It was a great way to start off the new year!

2/52  Once again, my little girl.  A couple of days ago (let’s say it was Friday), the kiddos did not want to take an afternoon nap and I was tired of listening to them cry in their cribs, so we took them out on the front lawn to play.  Well, at the same time there was a birthday party ending across the street and there were a ton of people walking by.  The kiddos decided it would be fun to chase after them.  OK, I don’t know if chase is the right word, it was more of a toddle and fall.  Whatever you want to call it, it was funny to watch.

Yeah, I know they are both pictures of Ella, but I didn’t decide to do this until after I had already taken these.  I will try and incorporate photos of the kids, the dog, and the husband into this project, as well as some self portraits and I will get back to my roots and do some more of the artistic, abstract photos that I used to do.  I hope you will enjoy this as much as I will!
