Meet Your Photographer

June 9, 2009

My name is Shae and I am a natural light photographer in San Diego.  I specialize in unique, creative children’s and senior photography.

For as long as I can remember, I have held a camera in my hand.  I still remember my very first camera.  I must have been about 10 years old.  It was a little Olympus 35mm point and shoot.  I took it to school with me almost everyday and took pictures of all my friends.  When it finally died, I graduated to my first SLR, a Minolta SRT 101.  This was probably the most important camera I have ever owned.  These cameras were made in the 1960’s and mine belonged to my first teacher, my father.  I learned almost everything I know about manual shooting with that camera.  I was able to take some incredible photos with that little work horse.  Hopefully it will be the camera I pass on to my kids when they want to learn about photography.

When I was in college, I learned the ins and outs of the darkroom and all about composition.  This is where I was first introduced to children’s photography.  I interned in the studio of a very well know children’s photographer.  I still use what I learned from her today.

After college, I upgraded to my DSLR and a digital darkroom.  Now I am able to control every aspect of the photo and as an added bonus, I can take as many photos as I want and never run out of film!

During the whole after college time, I was able to find time to marry a wonderful man in 2006 and have my beautiful twins in 2008.  They are the ones that inspire me to take out my camera each and every day.  Time has gone by so fast and I don’t want to miss anything.
