One of the great things about living in San Diego is the people I get to meet.  A while back I met Margaret Dilloway, a local author, through the group of ladies I socialize with.  After that I figured I should probably give her book a read.  After reading it, I have to say, I LOVED IT!!  It was beautifully written and the story came alive.  The book, How to be an American Housewife, was just released in paperback at the beginning of the month.  I highly recommend it.  You can go to her website and read the first two chapters.

I did some updated head shots for her next book due to be released next year.  I can’t wait to read the next one!!

Almost every year over spring break, My family and I, along with a handful of other families go camping in Death Valley.  It is probably one of my very favorite places.  We always have a ton exploring and playing in some dirt.  While we were there this year, we did a quick little mini shoot at one of the ghost towns.  It was so much fun!  Over the next couple day I’ll post some more photos.

I’ve decided it’s time for another giveaway!  For this giveaway, I want you to nominate a family that you think is deserving of a free photo session with Saflower Photography.  Do you know a family that is going through some hardships, or maybe a family where a loved one is about to be deployed?  Maybe there is a family out there that has helped you or the community in some way and you would like to give back to them.  You may not nominate yourself! In a couple months I will do another giveaway where you can enter yourselves.

To nominate a family, all you have to do is send an email to shae@saflowerphotography.com with “giveaway” in the subject line, telling me about the family and why you want to nominate them.  They need to live in the San Diego or King City/Lockwood area, or be willing to travel there.  I will have a few impartial judges select the three that they think are most deserving.  I will then share the stories with you and put it up for a vote.  Please have your nomination in by January 21, 2011.

A few weeks ago I had the privilege of doing headshots for two beautiful children. I can’t even tell you how much fun we had! The camera loves these two kiddos.
